Peaky Blinders 5 started: the first episode aired last night on BBC One at 9pm. Cillian Murphy, for JOE magazine, talked about her iconic character: Thomas Shelby.

In this new season Tommy Shelby will enter as a deputy in the House of Commons in London, debuting in politics, and will confront himself with the really existed character of Oswald Mosley, founder of the British Union of Fascists.
A very topical subject that deserves great attention is part of everyone, given the current political tensions and tendencies.

But in this season of Peaky Blinders it will also be interesting to see Tommy Shelby’s inner struggles as a narrative.

This time it’s more about Tommy fighting his own demons, and it’s unbelievable to play, of course.

Cillian Murphy said.

So far we’ve seen Tommy fight with external forces that have always threatened his family and business; now we will follow his inner struggles, his mind. Furthermore, regarding the “political” theme, Murphy assures that he will not affect the style and themes typical of the show.
